Boat Checking
Following a lengthy review by the Canoe Polo Committee the boat checking rules have been updated to facilitate the use of a wider range of kayak designs within the sport in Great Britain.
The new rules aim to; allow the use of a wider range of designs, remove the uncertainty and ambiguities of the historical process for kayak owners and manufacturers, provide a documented system and to provide an accurate register of kayak design's.
The new rules are based on the ICF Canoe Polo Competition Rules 2007.
Several documents have been produced to enable this process to be managed and implemented.
- Policy - Describes the new rules; details how kayak designs can pass through the checking procedure allowing them to be used in BCU events.
- Procedure - Details some of the more practical aspects of the the boat checking procedure.
- Design Registrar - Details the approval status of kayak designs.
Copies of the documents are available for download below.
Due to the complex nature of the kayak design requirements and associated checking procedure; it is envisaged by the Canoe Polo Committee that these documents will be updated once these new systems have been fully tested and used, if any shortcomings are to be found.
When presenting designs to be checked, ensure that the bumpers have been removed and that all area's are clean and unobstructed ready for testing.
