Great Britain's Best Team 2008

At last I have come up with a format for the 'Best Team' award I want to start. Why am I even doing this ? Well, I want to try and promote the 'whole team' aspect of our sport. There is just too much focus on individuals - I guess there always has been, but compared to many of our overseas adversaries, I don't think the British are natural team players. You can look as most team sports played here to see that. I would like to see, sometime in my life time, this sport really hit the mainstream - to see what happens and then all the existing excuses people make about how hard it is to play would be taken away and then we could see some real development - perhaps. Anyway, part of the hold up on that, is that most teams don't actually look like a team - with a miss-match of kit and boats which don't even match, let alone anything else. If this award can help to inspire or drive teams to something better then that can't hurt can it? Britain's 'Best Team' will be an open vote by any BCU Competition member who is registered as being a polo player. Votes will be made on the BCU Canoe Polo Committee Website. This is available at http://www.canoepolo.org.uk/bestteam2008 There will also be opportunity for people outside Britain to vote for their favoured team, and while this will not count towards the direct vote, it will be interesting to see what comes up and this could also be brought into account for one part of the 'Team Image'. Anyway, for more information see the document below.
