On Saturday 6th September we will be holding the first annual reffing day in Banbury, Oxfordshire. What’s an annual reffing day and who’s it for?
We will be running reffing theory courses at all levels from the entry grade 4 through to grade 1
Referees who have attended the ref briefings at the Canada world championships will be on hand to explain what to call when, to be consistent with the top levels of our sport
It will be an opportunity for assessors, and would be assessors, to practice and get / update their accreditation
We will be holding a mini tournament from about 15:00 until dusk – bring your whole team to the course or make up teams on the day.
Practical assessments will be available during the tournament for grade 3 and 4 while existing G1/1T/2 refs can tune their assessing skills
We hope there will be a second mini tournament on the Sunday for those teams who are travelling a long way and want to make a weekend of it
So who’s it for....everyone! We hope to make this an annual event to improve the quality of reffing in our sport and to make sure that all teams have a qualified ref of the appropriate grade before we start the winter season. Also to increase the number of assessors to make it easier to find courses and get qualified.
More details of how to sign up will follow during August. For now please hold the date...
