Steve Watts
Chairperson

Steve was previously the Chief Referee in the UK and continues to sit on the ICF Rules and Development Board. He has officiated the senior men's final in two World Championships and was also lead referee in a World Games final. His focus is on developing all aspects of polo across the UK!

Ross Barron
Vice Chairperson

Ross has been paddling since 2009 and started playing polo in 2011 with Deveron Canoe club. He started volunteering with the Scottish polo committee in 2018 and formed Granite City in 2019 in order to compete outside of Scotland. He aspires to make polo easier to get involved in across the length and breadth of Britain.

Mark Thomas
Treasurer

Mark began paddling Sprint and Marathon in 1999 before taking up Polo with Cherwell Canoe Club in 2003. He’s played ever since and has coached and then refereed at World and European Championships since 2014. As well as Chairing Cherwell Canoe Club for the last 5 years. Mark has also helped and lead the restructure of the national league and been involved in the running of the National Champs and ECC competition held at Nottingham in 2018.

Elan Winter
Chief Referee

Elan started paddling with Aberfan Canoe Club at the start of the 1990s and started playing polo a little later. He’s played ever since and has coached various clubs, as well as the national side. As a referee, Elan has officiated at European and World Championships since 2013, and has refereed the Senior Men’s Finals at the 2017 European and 2018 World Championships.

Chris Tighe
National League Organiser

Chris' aspiration is for the National League to highlight the highest levels of play in the UK and encourage younger teams and players to aspire to this level. If anyone has any suggestions for the league moving forwards please get in touch via email or have a chat in-person at an event.
Outside of the national committee role, Chris volunteers regionally in the North West as a coach, and is training regularly aiming to play competitively at the top level.

Mike Moffit
Development Academy

Mike has been involved as a volunteer since 1987, a long-standing member and representative of FoA Canoe Club Liverpool since 85. His appointments include coaching multiple GB sides, including 9 years as the GB Mens coach (96-05).  Mike's dedication in recent years has turned to the development of a thriving Canoe Polo Academy. Mike has received multiple awards for his service to the sport, most recently the 2019 British Empire Medal.

Publicity Officer

David runs the Website and Social Media streams, having set-up the current iterations. Get in touch if you have any polo content to share or for any sponsorship enquiries!

David began playing polo at University with London and now plays with East End Canoe Club. He is passionate about growing awareness and participation in the sport, regularly supporting European and World Championships as a commentator and photographer.

Zöe joined Aberfan Canoe Club in the mid 90's and has been playing, refereeing, coaching and other roles ever since.

Sophie Louth
Women’s Representative

Sophie advocates for women's polo in the UK . She also organises a number of women's polo training days and fun tournaments, if you are interested in getting involved just drop her a message. Sophie started kayaking in Exeter before taking up canoe polo at university.

James McNeish
Scottish CPC Representative
James oversees the SCA polo leagues and development of polo in Scotland. Although James didn’t start playing polo till in his 20’s started kayaking from a young age. Having played for FCAG and Stirling and Napier. James currently plays for Titan’s Canoe Club.

Hywel Whitaker
Welsh CPC Representative
Howie has been involved in Canoe Polo for the past 35 years. He plays and is secretary for Dragon Canoe Club in Wales. He has worked on the committee for a number of years as well as coaching in the GB Squads. Howie has also been involved in organising the Welsh Open for the past 25 years. He currently lives near Cardiff.

Paul McCoy
Northern Ireland CPC Representative

Paul is the representative for Northern Ireland and has been involved in Canoe Polo since 2015. Initially with Belfast Kayak Academy, where he was the Chair for many years, but he now coaches Queen's University. Paul has been involved in the running competitions at National and European level for many years and is currently the Chair of the Irish National Canoe Polo Commitee.

Kirsten Lee
North West CPC Representative

Kirsten is the North West regional league organiser and has been involved in the sport for the past decade, initially at university level and now playing for both Manchester Wildcats and the GB women's team. She is also currently part of the national League organisers committee and is very keen to progress women's polo in the UK.

North East Chairperson
Adam-Peter a.k.a. AP started paddling at 16 and coaching at 19. British Canoeing Regional Coaching Representative for Yorkshire as well as the Yorkshire and North East Polo Committee's Chairperson. Full-time outdoor instructor and the Senior Instructor for the Leeds Sailing and Activity Centre. Coach, manager and player for the Leeds Panthers from Leeds Canoe Club. Hoping to make a difference by increasing polo coaching and standards of refereeing in the Regional division.

South West Representative

George began playing polo at the University of Bath and now plays for Avon. He runs the south west regional league and participates in the commentary team for European and World championships.
